Tom Walsmith

Thomas L. Walsmith is the president of Commercial Property Group, Inc. and Brentwood Business Properties, Inc. His over thirty five years of experience as a broker in commercial and industrial real estate, including an exemplary career in one of the industry’s prestigious trade associations, characterizes him as one of the most recognized and successful professionals within the field of real estate brokerage.

Since graduating California State University, Los Angeles, in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and real estate, he spent his early years as a sales associate in a downtown L.A. industrial real estate firm, serving the communities of Los Angeles, Vernon and the City of Commerce.  Moving to Los Angeles’ West Side in 1979, Tom has since specialized in marketing industrial and office properties and operating as a tenant advocate for relocation purposes in the communities of West Los Angeles, Culver City, LAX, and the South Bay.  He served as Vice President and Sales Manager of that area’s top industrial company before co-founding and partnering Commercial Industrial Associates and finally Commercial Property Group. A tribute to the trust that his colleagues have in him is evidenced by his selection as broker of record in each of these companies, whether appointed by other owners or chosen by his own partners.

He has balanced his business career with significant contributions to the real estate profession through many years of service in the American Industrial Real Estate Association, in which he engaged in numerous capacities since 1977.  Making important contributions to the organization’s efforts to maintain the highest of ethical standards among its members through education and arbitration programs, he was recognized by the association in 1987, when he was elected its president. The group’s most honored award was also bestowed on Tom, when he was designated a Master of Industrial Brokerage, being one of only a handful of individuals entitled to use the M.I.B. designation after his name.

Tom has handled hundreds of transactions during his tenure as a broker, and has faithfully represented many of the most prestigious companies in southern California.

He can count among his clients the likes of Fox Television, Westwood Financial Corporation, Pennsylvania Life Insurance Company, Hillcrest Motor Company, Title Insurance & Trust, Culver City Meat Company, Sony Studios, Turningpoint School, Rainbo Records, as well as scores of others too numerous to mention.
